About Cate

Cate has over twenty years editing and writing experience. In 2000 she took a position as editor/writer with the education and parenting oriented publication Gifted; overseeing its content, graphic design and distribution. In 2010 she led its adaptation to an e-journal, whilst still maintaining a print product, ensuring maximum reach into the designated market. She ceased employment with the NSW Gifted and Talented Association in 2011 to expand her own business interests.

The research, writing and editing of her two publications associated with the 1st Australian Armoured Division, The Black Soil Plains and Beyond and To Fight and Do Our Best further honed her investigative and interviewing techniques.

She now spends her time writing histories for local families such as the Melbourne, Woollard and Woodley families. In doing so she has greatly increased her experience at genealogy sites considering herself a specialist in such sites as Ancestry.com, Trove, NSW Births Deaths and Marriages and Record Search on the Australian Archives site.

She also now considers herself skilled at interviewing and recording the personal histories of individuals, young and old. In previous lives Cate has also worked in research, attached to the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, the NSW Department of Agriculture and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission.
